Contentment comes from perception. Not stuff.
Welcome to Freely Contained. You may call me Dai.
I saw through the collective nonsense early in life.
I was in my 20s at the time, but I felt like a small child learning to walk again. It has been a long time since.
I feel like I have done enough walking to help others along too.
This site is dedicated to a way of thinking. A certain way of life.
All too often we get bogged down with the unnecessary complexities of life.
The need to uphold a certain image. The need to feed the ego, consciously or unconsciously.
If you have anxiety, depression or get frustrated often, it is a sign that you suffer from the above.
Just like the human physiology isn’t made to be submerged in water, our minds were not made to be submerged in anxiety, depression and frustration.
I have no doctrine to preach. No religion to sell. No morality to impress. No “method” or “system” that will get you results in 30 days or less.
All I offer is a feeling of the true nature of things, a feeling of completeness.
Since coming to this feeling, I have read countless philosophical and religious texts, both eastern and western. There is a common truth. One which transcends doctrines and morality. It is this essence I would like to share.
With it, there is a state of imperturbable peace. There is contentment and joy in the most mundane of things. Though there is still ground to cover, I do not stress, because of what I feel and understand.
It is the feeling and knowledge that everything is as it needs to be.
In the course of life, we are blinded by ego, attachments, precepts and feelings of how things ought to be.
It is with this that I offer you Freely Contained.
The centrepiece are the Freeverses. I have no proper name for this collection. It describes a path (not the only path by any means!) of getting to this state by systematically showing the illusions in life for what they are.
It is written to be deliberately ambiguous at first. The experience of attempting to understand it will help you understand your own mind.
Each paragraph is in itself a subject, which I will discuss at length in later posts.
If you just want quick insights, check out the Short Forms. They are a collection of short, simple thoughts that encapsulate a certain idea. They don’t come with explanations though!
Enjoy at your pace.
